“Particulate Matter Alert” issued: moovel enables half price local transport in the Stuttgart region

  • City of Stuttgart issues “Particulate Matter Alert”
  • During the “Particulate Matter Alert” initiative, individual VVS tickets can be purchased for 50 percent of the regular ticket price using the moovel app.
  • The offer is valid throughout the entire VVS region and only during the first two “Particulate Matter Alerts”, to begin with

January 18 from midnight, and to leave non-essential fireplaces switched off on January 17 from 6 pm. The reason behind this initiative is the weather situation expected in Stuttgart in the coming days. moovel is helping people in the Stuttgart region to stay mobile during these days: during the “Particulate Matter Alert”, buses and trains in the region of the transport association Verkehrs- und Tarifverbund Stuttgart (VVS) can be used for half price with the moovel app.

The 50 percent offer, which is valid throughout the VVS region, is only available via the moovel app and only for the first two “Particulate Matter Alerts”, to begin with. You can find further information on the website www.moovel.com. As well as this, the moovel Group GmbH will be communicating its price campaign during the “Particulate Matter Alerts” via radio, online banners and digital out-of-home media.

The city of Stuttgart will inform residents about the beginning and end of the “Particulate Matter Alert” via municipal online media, newspaper advertisements, traffic announcements on the radio, variable-message signs on inner-city entrance and exit roads, information signs on highways, and via the website www.feinstaubalarm.stuttgart.de, which has been set up especially for this.

“With the latest generation of the moovel app, we are showing in Stuttgart how smartphones can make our mobility in cities easier and more sustainable. We are happy to support the efforts of the city of Stuttgart to find innovative solutions for urban transport, and thus improve the quality of life for everyone,” says Robert Henrich, CEO of the moovel Group GmbH.

Search for, book and pay for mobility with a single app

Multimodal mobility platforms such as moovel help make the designing of transport in cities easier and more sustainable: the mobility app from the Daimler subsidiary combines local public transport, car-sharing providers car2go and Flinkster, mytaxi, Taxi-Ruf, rental bicycles and Deutsche Bahn. Using the moovel app, car2go, Flinkster, mytaxi and Deutsche Bahn can be booked and paid for simply and directly throughout Germany. In Stuttgart, VVS single and short distance tickets were added to this list in November 2015 – the booking and payment of the VVS tickets in the moovel app is so easy: when you search for a connection to a destination using moovel, the app automatically suggests the most suitable ticket to buy. The tickets are available in the app and can be called up online and offline for ticket inspections. Billing is easy and takes place within the app, without the customer having to register with the transport association. This “Stuttgart model” will be introduced in other German cities over the course of the year.
